Conflicting advice about statins and diabetes.

Dear Reader

“People being treated with statins may have an increased risk of raised blood sugar levels and the development of type 2 diabetes.” Those are the exact words the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) use on its website to describe the link between taking statin drugs and developing type 2 diabetes.

Back in 2012, after reviewing clinical data from the published study results, the FDA added a warning about the risk of type 2 diabetes linked to all statin drugs.

Three years later and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) recently issued a new standard of care recommendation that every diabetic should take cholesterol-lowering statins.

This means that every diabetic in the US must take a statin drug whether you have high cholesterol or not — and even if you’re up to 75 years old and have been successfully managing your diabetes for years.

One of the top ADA researchers added that the only decision left was who to put on moderate-strength statins, and who should get a higher dose.

It sounds like we have another pseudo-scientist on our hands and I’d very much like to know what exactly are the qualifications of this so-called researcher… because reading (and understanding) an FDA guideline does not seem to be one of his strong points.

The fact is, statins can actually give you diabetes or make your diabetes more serious. A massive UK study carried out a couple of years ago proved statins increase your blood sugar and your weight.

Let’s face it, the only reason why the ADA makes this recommendation is because of money… Money coming straight from the pockets of Big Pharma.

Merck, AstraZeneca, and Eli Lilly — all manufacturers of statin drugs — have dumped millions in “sponsorship” into the ADA over the years. And with the ADA promoting statins to 86 million Americans with type 2 diabetes, I’m sure Big Pharma considers it money well spent.

The bigger problem here is that a misguided recommendation like this, coming from a respected charity, can easily cross the pond and before you know it everyone in the world with type 2 diabetes will be taking statin drugs — big money for Big Pharma coming at a huge cost to diabetic patients.

You can protect your heart and other major organs from diabetes-related damage with safe and proven supplements that provide plenty of protection without the terrible statin side effects, like the powerful diabetes-fighting herb Berberine for keeping cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugars in check.

And here’s the best part, Berberine does not give you diabetes.
